COVID-19 FAQs

Q:  I noticed Andy wearing an orange safety vest in the video about resuming church on the weekend.  What was that all about?

A:  Andy was referring to a new role in our church services – the COVID-19 Marshal.  Because we take everyone’s safety seriously, we will be rostering a dedicated COVID-19 Marshal for each service (and a reserve as well). The COVID-19 Marshal will be easy to recognise in an orange safety vest and will oversee physical distancing, cleaning and hygiene at Church, Kids Church and Creche each week.

Online training regarding BAC’s COVID-19 safe procedures will be provided for all COVID-19 Marshals.  They will be required to arrive 15-20 minutes before a service and ensure that each Hygiene Station is set up.  Their role will involve:

  • Overseeing the Health Declaration sign in process carried out by Welcomers
  • Overseeing hand sanitisation prior to church entry
  • Overseeing physical distancing during entry and  health screening
  • Overseeing physical distancing at the conclusion of the service
  • Cleaning commonly used touchpoints such as light switches, door handles and the Hygiene Station at the conclusion of the service
  • Answering questions relating to COVID-19 procedures if required

The COVID-19 Marshals are an essential part of BAC’s COVID-19 plan -  they will help keep us all safe when we return to church and make sure other ministry leaders are able to concentrate on their own roles.  Any events run at church will also require a COVID-19 Marshal to be appointed.

If you think this sounds like something you could do for church services,  please contact Chris at the office and he will forward the online training to you.

Q:  The video on Sunday said that we can only have about 30 people at church!  Why is this number so low when we have so much space?

A:  NSW Government Guidelines require a minimum of 4 square meters of space for each person attending a place of worship.  This means that we can safely fit 30 people in the church building.  At this stage we will only be using the actual church area – not the overflow area near the kitchen and toilets for church.  We’ve also put up signs in each room of the Ministry Centre and in the Hall indicating how many people can safely meet. These measures are designed to help keep everyone physically distanced, in line with BAC’s COVID-19 Management plan.

Q:  Andy mentioned that our temperature will be checked when we return to church.  Will there be any other health measures in place?

A:  Every person – adults and children – entering our buildings will require COVID-19 Screening.  This will take a bit of time, so we’re asking you to arrive 10 minutes earlier than the service time to allow this to be completed.  If anyone has a temperature of 37.5*C or higher they will not be able to attend on that day.  If this happens you may like to call the COVID-19 Hotline on 13 77 88.

Following the temperature check, you will be asked whether you, or anyone in you household, have any COVID-19 symptoms, have visited a known COVID-19 Hotspot or have had contact with any confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days.

COVID-19 symptoms may include fever of 37.5*C or higher, a dry cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, a runny nose, muscle or joint pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.  If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please don’t come to church – stay home, get well and enjoy our on-line service.

A list of current COVID-19 Hotspots will be updated regularly and can be found on the Hygiene Station on your way into church.

After this, you will be asked to sign a Health Declaration form and list your best contact number.  Government regulations require that this process will happen every time you come to church.  The information on the forms is kept for 28 days in case it’s required for contact tracing and then it’s destroyed.
